Quality of Investments

Analysts look at an insurance company's investments in terms of type and quality, security and how well they are spread out or diversified. This is an important measure, as the company needs to assess its investment income and eventually sell certain assets to pay policy claims. The Insurance Answer Center only offers policies from insurance companies rated B+, (very good) or higher, by A.M. Best, an independent rating service.
