Waiver of Premium Rider

This is a rider or a policy provision on a term or permanent life insurance policy that insures the policyowner against the need to pay premiums if the person insured becomes disabled. If the insured becomes disabled, the insurance company would pay the premiums due and maintain the coverage in force. The definition of "disabled" varies by type of policy purchased and the insurance company. Under a permanent life insurance policy the policy can be used to provide an income if the increase in cash value is borrowed each year.
